Our Methodology

How the programmes are structured

All Sunsethold programmes are built around a single principle: the outcome of a session should be a physical object — a folder set, a written records map, a set of reflective prompts — not a feeling of having covered some ground. The templates and guides used in every session have been developed and refined across multiple cohorts. They are not generic; they are designed for the document types and household contexts common to adults living in Thailand.

Each programme is facilitated by a team member whose background is in adult education or document management. No programme involves legal advice, financial advice, or representation before government bodies. When questions arise that require those forms of expertise, participants are directed toward the appropriate specialists.

Programmes range from a single afternoon workshop to a six-week household coordination programme, allowing participants to choose the level of involvement that fits their situation.

Programme One

Personal Records Organisation Workshop

฿5,500 per participant · Single afternoon session

A small-group workshop where participants learn how to arrange their personal records into a single, clear, and well-labelled set of folders. The session covers what kinds of documents older adults typically need to keep accessible, how to label them in a way family members can understand, how long to retain different items, and how to set up a calm filing system at home. Includes a printed folder template, a reference checklist, and a take-home guide. Held in small groups in the afternoon.

  • Printed folder template designed for the Thai context
  • Reference checklist covering common document categories
  • Retention guidance: how long to keep different items
  • Take-home guide for continuing the work independently
  • Post-session access to facilitators via email

2

Sorting and labelling documents using the printed template (60 min)

Programme Two

Pre-Retirement Planning Conversation Series

฿14,500 per participant · Four sessions, approx. 2 hours each

A four-session reading group for adults approaching retirement who want to think through the questions involved before they arise. Topics are educational only and include common questions to consider, how to talk with family about expectations, how to make a personal timeline of decisions, and how to identify which specialists to consult and when. Each session lasts roughly two hours and ends with reflective prompts to take home. The series does not give advice; it offers a structure for thinking calmly.

  • Four structured sessions covering different planning topics
  • Written reflective prompts to take home after each session
  • Framework for personal timeline of upcoming decisions
  • Guidance on specialist identification and timing
  • Small group — space for questions and individual reflection
